What's the color of money?

We're at the bank. Trying to get a first American account. Cause in the US, they don't accept European Visa cards everywhere. Or the fact you have money on a European account.

So, we're looking amazed at one each other discovering the interest percentages in the US. Well, banks also have to live. Says the bank employee. And you have no credit history.

We get a twenty percent interest rate for every late payment. Cause we have had no US bank account before. No US credit history. And our Visa card? Has no American flag.

We even look more amazed if they ask us what kind of checks we want. Checks? We don't use any. In America you do. Says the bank employee. So he gets out his catalogue of checks.

These are for free. But have boring designs.
These are only 8$. But beautiful.

We stare at a catalogue of colored checks.
With roses. And cars.
With teddy bears.
And baloons.

Money here comes in all colors.
But it can't be European.

Gee, this is SOO true! At my bank, the first ten times (at least) that I've tried to cash a check from France the employees didn't even know what to do with it... not a clue! "sorry", they would say, "we never have to deal with foreign currency, here"... "This is just a piece or paper", I pointed out. As a reply, the girl would just give a call to her supervisor because she didn't know the rate of the Euro. I'd stare at her in utter amazement, wishing to say "are you dumb or what??" -but I'm too polite for that ;) Now they remember me by name, even though I go to the bank in person only once or twice a year -too funny!
