Sometimes you wonder if it's for real. Americans are so friendly that you wonder why? What do they want from you?
I met her at the flower shop. Tara is her name. And she smiles. Asks me what I need. An selects my bouquet carefully. She chats away. Where am I from. And where she's from. Why am I here. Why she's here. What I like. What she likes.
Tara has a flower and gifts shop. Organic gifts. Cause San Francisco is green. She's a foreigner. As everyone in the city. And she felt lonely at the start.
Tara is determined to make sure I won't. Feel lonely. She' s determined to smile. And chat.
That's what makes Americans so friendly.
Today, I'll pass Tara's shop. Just to say hello. And to make sure she does not feel lonely.

Hi Alice,
Just started reading your blog. I was looking for blogs of women living in San Francisco as I visited this gorgeous city a year ago and absolutely fell in love with it and wish I coul live ther. I am a foreigner living abroad myself, I live near London.
When I visited San Francisco what I liked most about it how friendly people were and how quickly I felt at ease with them. Compared to London it was such an eye-opener. London seems an unfriendly city compared to SF.
Looking forward to reading the rest of your blog.
Andrea
