Discovering the back garden when living abroad is one of the most fascinating things to do. I stand at the ocean in Half Moon Bay - and have a proud look at the enormous pool of my back garden.
It's getting cold here. And windy. And I amaze myself over a different world. To be found only 30 minutes from America's most trendy city. A handful houses. Old fisher boats. Colourful crab baskets.
And while walking around in my windy back garden, I spot one. And another one. Sitting on the fisher boats. Hoping something of the fresh morning catch is hidden on the deck.
Pelicans.
That's what I like about living abroad. Discovering you have pelicans living in your back garden.
