I have been very conscient about living in a risk area. And decide to follow a first aid course. Subscribe myself to the Red Cross. And get an invitation for a Monday morning course. In law.
"Why would you be scared to help a victim?" says the Red Cross teacher.
"Blood" I yell.
"Being sued" answer the American students.
I am puzzled straight away. Being sued for saving someone's life?! For being a hero?!
For the next three hours, I learn about how to get someone's consent to help. Cause without a confirmation I can be sued. I learn how to help in only that what is written on my small business card I get from the Red Cross. Basic First Aid. Which was not even putting a bandage on. Cause for all the rest I can be sued.
Anyway. I am qualified from today on. To call 911. Or to explain why I can not save your life. To avoid being sued.
